Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC) was honored to host Rev. David Mohan, Ph.D. in a very special chapel service on January 27, 2014. Dr. Mohan is the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in India and the Senior Pastor of New Life Assembly of God (a 40,000-member church located in Chennai). Having a wealth of experience in Christian leadership, he was invited to VFCC to offer young Christian leaders his valuable perspective while visiting the U.S. from India.

Dr. Mohan started following Christ in 1968, when he was 21 years old. He went on to complete a theological studies program at Southern Asia Bible College (SABC) in Bangalore, India. While studying, Dr. Mohan had the opportunity to pastor a small church in Bangalore; soon after, he was blessed with a partner in ministry – his new wife. The church then grew from seven to 30,000 people, as the Lord moved mightily and the Mohan family served faithfully. Dr. Mohan is currently General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God in India, as well as southern Asia’s representative to the World Assemblies of God. He also chairs the National Prayer and Church Transformation Initiative, which is involved in prayer ministry, leadership development and church planting. Furthermore, Dr. Mohan, is on the board of directors for Church Growth International. In March 2009, he was recognized for his obedience and excellence in ministry with an honorary doctorate from SABC.

The students and staff here at VFCC received wisdom from an experienced professional minister. However, rather than sharing ministry strategies and outreach methods, Dr. Mohan took time to encourage our students with the Word of God. Using 1 Timothy 4:6-10 as the main text, he urged the audience to train their spirits in righteousness, being wary of godless ideas and false teachings. The sermon that Dr. Mohan delivered may prove to be one of the most edifying teachings our students will encounter in their time at VFCC.
