U.S. Special Forces rescued Valley Forge Christian College (VFCC) Alumna, Jessica Buchanan '07, in Somalia in an overnight raid on January 24, 2012. Jessica had been working for a Danish relief organization in northern Somalia when pirates kidnapped her last October.

Jessica is unharmed and in good condition. President Barack Obama had authorized the mission. Obama called Buchanan's father to inform him that his daughter had been rescued and was safe.

Dr. Don Meyer, President of VFCC exclaimed, "We are all rejoicing in the wonderful news about Jessica Buchanan's release. We have Jessica in our thoughts and prayers, and give thanks to all of those that have been keeping her and her family in prayer."
