Honors Study Tour to Italy During Spring Break 2012

by Office of Marketing | February 16, 2011

Students in the honors program at VFCC will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to Italy for a study tour during spring break of 2012. This trip, scheduled from March 8 through March 19, 2012, will run concurrently with the Concert Choir's tour to Italy. The study tour will take you to many places of historical significance such as St. Peter's Basilica. The Basilica is not only significant to a billion Catholics around the world but also to non-Catholics because it was financing its construction that lay at the root of the Protestant Reformation led by Martin Luther. Other sites include Mamertine prison where the apostle Paul wrote his second letter to Timothy, and the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Roman Forum, and Milivian Bridge, the site where the Emperor Constantine received his vision which would change the course of Western civilization as well as church history.

Participants who are selected for this study tour would enroll in a 3-credit honors course designed to prepare them for the visit and to better appreciate and understand the significance of the sites visited. Please note that space for this study tour is limited to 15 students. Prayerfully consider being part of this marvelous opportunity.
