The Storms Research Center houses the J. Robert Ashcroft Memorial Library and the Computer Mall. The Storms Research Center houses a computer lab (24 computers) on the first floor and the J. Robert Ashcroft Memorial Library on the second floor. The Storms Research Center was named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Don Storms. The Storms are alumni of the college, graduating in the class of 1955 when the college was located in Green Lane, PA and named Eastern Bible Institute. The library collection was named in honor of Dr. J. Robert Ashcroft, who served as the President of Valley Forge Christian College from 1982-1985. He was a leading educator in the Assemblies of God who served as President of four Assemblies of God Colleges and Universities. Dr. Ashcroft's vision was to see a new library built and began raising funds for its completion during his tenure.
Mr. Jack DeBartolo II and his son, Jack DeBartolo III, of DeBartolo Architects designed the Storms Research Center. It took over 5,000 hours to design and draw the SRC; the DeBartolos received two awards in recognition of their design:
- The 1999 AIA Arizona: A component of the American Institute of Architects Design Award - Citation Award - Unbuilt.
- The 2001 Design Award from the Western Mountain Region of the American Institute of Architects.
The first floor is 8,900 square feet. The second floor is 8,800 square feet. The building is constructed with 29 concrete panels, each 7 feet thick and weighing 30 tons. Construction of the building began in May 1999 and was completed in June 2000. The library collection was moved to the new building on July 2000, and the building was dedicated in November 2000. The Honorable John Ashcroft, former Senator from Missouri, was the guest speaker.
