Campus Security: Safe and Secure
Valley Forge Christian College staff, faculty and administration are committed to providing a safe environment for students. We believe there are a number of reasons why the College has been a safe place. Most importantly, the Lord had blessed the College with this protection. Recruiting students who are committed believers, making security services available at all times, providing a campus-wide Emergency Notification System, and installing appropriate security systems such as access locks in most residence halls have also helped. Finally, the College's suburban location also contributes to our low incidence of negative behavior.
When people ask what students can do to enhance their safety, we have a simple response: The single best way to stay safe on campus is by observing common sense. (Please refer to the eight safety tips listed below.)
Eight safety tips
Campus Security recommends that students and personnel routinely examine their room or office and notice any potential hazards that can be corrected to maintain an appropriate and safe environment. Here are some basics:- Locking doors when working alone at night.
- Notifying Campus Security when working alone at night.
- Ensuring that doors and windows are closed and locked when vacating a room or office.
- Carrying office keys with you at all times.
- Requesting a safety escort from Campus Security when walking to and from buildings after dark.
- Engraving an ID number on personal property, recording the serial number and keeping this information in a safe location.
- Locking vehicles when not in use.
- Securing personal property. Do not leave purses, backpacks and other personal property unattended, especially in rooms and offices with open doors or other common-use areas such as the Dining Commons.
Campus Security is on duty 24 hours a day to provide an immediate response to all emergencies and to contact appropriate emergency-response personnel.
